3-D Waves is a completely free software solution that is based on Java and offers users the ability to simulate scalar waves (like sound waves) in three dimensions. This program is excellent in showcasing line sources, point sources, as well as plane waves, and effectively demonstrates the interference that can occur between different sources.
The program itself is easy to navigate, as it presents users with red and green waves that emanate from two sources situated in the center of a cubed box. These waves accurately indicate acoustic pressure, with green areas showing negative pressure and red areas showing positive pressure.
