I recently had the opportunity to use OSX 10.5 Leopard and was thoroughly impressed with the dock's new feature of stacking icons. It's great to be able to quickly and easily see what files and documents are in a folder, especially recent downloads. However, the only downside is that when you have multiple folders open and all your document icons are mixed together, it can be challenging to differentiate between the folders.
Fortunately, I discovered resourceful modders who found a solution - adding an icon in the folder to 'badge' it. While the released sets of drawer icons have been useful, they can sometimes be too large and obscure the contents of the stack. The badges, on the other hand, are much smaller and display the same glyph from Agua.
One thing to note is that it's essential to keep the badges at the front of the stacks so that they don't get lost in the mix. There are a few ways to do this; one way is to use terminal commands to set the date modified, or you could use specialized applications that can do this for you.
