Anacron

Anacron is a highly effective tool that enables you to run periodic daily, weekly, and monthly tasks on your Mac, regardless of whether your machine is asleep or switched-off. This software is specially designed to work silently in the background, and is capable of running periodic scripts without requiring any user intervention.

Anacron is programmed to quietly check when you reboot your Mac and every sixty minutes while your computer is running in order to see if there are any overdue periodic scripts. If scripts are found to be overdue, Anacron will execute them immediately, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.

Unlike other similar software solutions on the market, Anacron runs as a proper Unix background process, and therefore, does not require any manual configuration or setup. Additionally, it uses the standard periodic scripts, including any local modifications or additions, making it highly flexible and versatile.

Anacron comes equipped with an easy-to-use installer, enabling you to install the software effortlessly. Once installed, Anacron runs as a background daemon and requires no further attention. During the installation process, this version of Anacron will automatically remove any outdated startup files, and edit /etc/crontab to remove any entries that are no longer required.

This latest release of Anacron (version 3.2) comes with some significant enhancements, including a configuration to function with the launchd daemon on MacOS 10.4 and later versions of MacOS. Additionally, this version features a Universal binary for both PPC and Intel Macs, ensuring that it runs smoothly across a wide range of devices.
