APE modules loaded into applications perform necessary modifications on the launched application memory space, such as redefining the minimize window action or customizing the standard Apple menu. These modules never touch any files on disk, and they utilize a set of functions defined in the Application Enhancer framework.
If you are concerned whether Application Enhancer might crash your system, we have taken several measures to ensure your applications' safety. There are a number of technologies incorporated into our products that attempt to make sure your applications are safe. For example, we have integrated Haxie CrashGuard, a feature that ensures the application is not modified if it has recently crashed, and APE Check, which makes sure no damaged APE modules are loaded.
