AquaEthereal

AquaEthereal is a Python-based application launcher designed for the Ethereal network monitoring program. Ethereal, which is a highly-advanced GUI for the tcpdump command-line utility, can be run under Fink or DarwinPorts in Apple's X11 environment. However, launching the program from within the X11 application requires administrator authorization - specifically a user password - which can be quite inconvenient.

This is exactly where AquaEthereal comes in. By providing a hassle-free way to start the program, users can simply click on the AquaEthereal icon located in the Dock to begin using the Ethereal network monitoring program.

Upon clicking the AquaEthereal icon in the Dock, users will be launched into the X11 environment, at which point AquaEthereal will prompt for an administrator password, since Ethereal itself must be run under these conditions.
