The .NET component we are reviewing adds sound recording features to multimedia applications. It works directly with your sound card or CD player. Moreover, it supports custom DSP effects so that users can create their effects and apply them to the sound being recorded.
This component has a wide range of features. Firstly, it allows recording from any DirectSound or ASIO compatible sound card available inside the system. It supports recording and exporting in several sound formats. Additionally, it has the ability to rip full tracks from a CD while maintaining resampling capabilities. More so, it has ripping capabilities of predefined portions of CD tracks.
The component offers real-time visual feedback through VU-Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum, and Waveform display. It also has events for reporting memory or file size occupation in real-time. The sound activation system automatically skips silence periods, while the CDDB database queries and CD cover picture retrieval are through Amazon Web Services.
Users can restart a stopped recording session in "Append mode," "Insert mode," "Mix mode," and "Overwrite mode." The software can perform basic sound editing capabilities, with the possibility of exporting portions of sound to the clipboard. Creating graphic bars for custom displaying of Vu-Meters, Spectrum, and Progress bars is also possible.
