I recently tried out the Automatic ics-Export on Close extension and found it to be incredibly useful. This software exports selected calendars on close or after pressing the designated button in a defined folder in either normal or backup mode.
The normal mode is best suited for individuals who use Sunbird to manage their events and use Rainlendar for desktopview like myself, and only need one file per calendar. The files are named according to the calendar name: calendarname.ics.
On the other hand, the backup mode is perfect for users who would like backup files saved for each calendar, with a maximum number of backup files allowed. In this mode, the files are named based on the calendar name and date: calendarname_date.ics.
To utilize Automatic ics-Export on Close, the only requirement is to have either Sunbird 0.3a1 - 0.4a1 or Thunderbird 1.5 - 1.5.0.* installed on your device. It's important to keep in mind that there is a known bug in the customize toolbar feature in Thunderbird, where the picCollection is shown instead of the chosen picture. However, this is fixed when the picture is dropped into the toolbar, and will be rectified in the next release.
Overall, I would highly recommend this extension to anyone looking for a simple yet effective way to backup their calendars quickly and effortlessly.
