Avanor, the Land of Mystery is a Rogue-like game that has gained popularity quickly. It has an easy-to-use ADOM-like interface that allows you to explore both countryside and subterranean areas, complete quests and experience some original features. It offers various commands for you to move and locate important spots. You can go south-west (1), south (2), south-east (3), west (4), current position (5), east (6), north-west (7), north (8), north-east (9) or use 'w' + direction to walk until you stumble upon something interesting. If you need to rest, use '~'. You can also open and close doors (o and c, respectively), go down stairs and look at locations with '' and 'l', respectively.
Dealing with objects is also easy with Avanor. You can equip an item (e), display your inventory (i), drop an item (d), pick up an item (','), eat food (E), drink a potion (D), mix potions (!), read books or scrolls (r), sacrifice an item (s or '_'), open a chest (O), give an item to somebody (g), use a tool (u) or pay quickly with (P).
To manage your characteristics and skills, you can display them with (A), use a skill (a), display the quests you have taken on (q), view your character details (@), display weapon skills (W) and check out the experience needed to gain the next level (x).
Combat and spellcasting are also part of Avanor. You can target an opponent (t), pray for help (p), change your combat tactics (T), cast spells (Z) or repeat the last spell cast with (^Z). You can also display your elemental magic levels with (#), although this is not yet used.
Finally, miscellaneous commands include using outer objects (U), displaying alchemy recipes (R), chatting with others (C), saving the game (S), quitting the game (Q), displaying previously shown messages (M), recentering the screen (0), taking screenshots ('[') and displaying the manual ('?').
What's New in This Release includes fixed trap bugs, support for compilation with modern compilers, FHS compatibility and Gentoo Linux ebuild. Overall, Avanor is an enjoyable game with many features to keep you engaged.
