The high-performance JIT translation engine is optimised for x86 and x86_64 (AMD64, EM64T), allowing for improved performance. Included with Basilisk II is support for copy and paste of text between MacOS and the host OS, making file sharing a breeze.
Also included is easy file exchange with the host OS via a "Host Directory Tree" icon on the Mac desktop, colour video display with support for run-time resolution switching, CD quality sound output, floppy disk driver (only 1.44MB disks supported), driver for HFS partitions and hardfiles, CD-ROM driver with basic audio functions, Ethernet driver, Serial drivers and SCSI Manager (old-style) emulation. Basilisk II even emulates extended ADB keyboard and 3-button mouse support.
Updates to the emulator include the added support of up to 1 GB of Mac memory, and the implementation of Mac OS idle wait, ensuring the host processor is only used when necessary. Issues with the AppleShare extension have also been addressed, while SLiRP network emulation performance has been improved.
