BBDock

BBDock is an application launcher that works with Blackbox and other window managers. It enables users to create application buttons in the slit/dock. Instead of XPM images, BBDock uses PNG files. The application can support alpha blending at 16, 24, and 32 bits color-depth. Additionally, the raise-window function is available to window managers which implement the EWMH specification.

One thing to note is a transparency issue with blackbox 0.70. However, this can be resolved by using a slit.cc replacement and placing it into blackbox-0.70/src/.

BBDock offers two options for configuration. Users can invoke the application with their icons specified on the command line or create a short configuration file (.bbdockrc) in their home directory. The syntax for a command-line-argument or a line in the configuration file is the same.

Here is an example of how to run BBDock from the command line: "bbdock "~/.icons/firefox.png:firefox:*Firefox". Users can also create a configuration file, such as this example:

"~/.icons/terminal.png:xterm::1
~/.icons/firefox.png:firefox:*Firefox".

To start using BBDock with a configuration file, just run bbdock. Users can type "bbdock -h" for a detailed view of general options. Overall, BBDock is a powerful application launcher that is easy to set up and use.
