bitRipper

Finally, what really stands out about bitRipper is that it doesn't require gigabytes of space to copy all the DVD content before converting. It's able to convert video on-the-fly, meaning it copies data and writes it to the AVI or MPEG file simultaneously.

Overall, I would definitely recommend bitRipper to anyone looking for a hassle-free way to convert DVD's to AVI files with advanced options available when needed.
