The Routing Server is a software tool that enables multiple PCs behind a router to establish direct connections. This means that BitWise connections can be accepted by multiple computers behind a router. In the past, port forwarding on BitWise's client port (4137) was used to specify a single destination IP. But when multiple users behind a router required incoming connections, this method became inadequate. The Routing Server allows individual users to register themselves with the server which then accepts all incoming connections and directs them to the appropriate user.
To use the Routing Server, your physical router must support port forwarding with a mechanism to specify different external and internal ports (often labeled "UPnP" by many common home routers). The software has undergone recent updates, including the addition of a voice chat ringing sound which now plays every 8 seconds (like a phone's ring). Tooltip has been added to show how many contacts are online in a group. The new release also allows simultaneous login into two different Professional Networks with the same username. Auto-login for BitWise Professional users (any Network ID > 0) has been fixed. Setup windows and conference invitation windows now take keyboard focus when opened.
