Blades of Avernum is a complex RPG with numerous towns, puzzles and quests. Additional adventures can be downloaded online, and there is a robust Editor to create your own content.

What's more, Blades of Avernum comes with a powerful editor capable of creating quests of your own. Spiderweb Software announces the release of Blades of Avernum, their new fantasy role-playing system specifically optimized for the Macintosh. The software is designed to provide an immersive role-playing experience with a plethora of large and exciting adventures.
One of the available adventures is In A Small Rebellion, where you're sent to infiltrate and destroy a band of rebels against the Empire. You have to ask yourself, will you fight them or join them? Another adventure is The Valley of Dying Things, where you delve deep into an enormous, abandoned school of magic, searching for the secret to a deadly plague.
There's also The Za-Khazi Run, where you rocket down a subterranean river, racing against time to reinforce a besieged fort. But first, you must outwit the many powerful, bizarre creatures living along the route. And, finally, Diplomacy With the Dead, where you have to help a remote city deal with the powerful vampire who lives just outside town. It may sound easy, but it's much more complicated than it appears.
Even when you win these adventures, Blades of Avernum offers more free fun on the net, ensuring that your journey never ends. The editor is available for anyone to make fascinating adventures with cunning characters; you'll have to deal with monsters that work together, send out patrols to hunt you, fight deadly bosses that summon aid, flee when they're outmatched, and surprise you with all sorts of nasty tricks.
The software costs $25 or $32 with a hint book. Experience with other Avernum games is completely unnecessary. Blades of Avernum requires a PC Running Windows 98 or later, 30 MB free RAM, 40 MB hard drive space, 800x600 screen resolution with 16-bit color. In essence, the software is an immersive and engaging role-playing experience that should be in the software library of any RPG enthusiast.
