BlindEyes is an open-source framework for code distribution and chaining. It is designed to enable distributed services to work together seamlessly.
BlindEyes is an open-source distributed framework that enables users to chain together codes in several popular languages. BlindEye is a web interface front-end that provides users with numerous administrative functions like viewing statistics, submitting and viewing jobs, and more. BlindEye and BlindEyes are two separate projects; however, BlindEye is the only front-end currently available. In the future, the developer intends to implement a command-line interface in either Python or Ruby.
Since BlindEyes interacts with databases, a front-end can be written in any language that supports object-relational mapping, making it more accessible. The developer wanted to create a simple and straightforward design that satisfies what most people would use. After evaluating several grids implemented in JAVA, many were either too complex or bloated. With BlindEyes, a simple Hello World example can be operational in minutes after installation.
BlindEyes supports over ten languages, and future releases will add more. It offers built-in security features such as SSL protection for communication between the nodes and the controller. The controller is lazily initialized, and all jobs are submitted to a database which the controller periodically polls.
The framework is currently in BETA mode, meaning that the code is functional, but it is in heavy flux, and the future releases will have modified entities. Additionally, the security model of BlindEyes is yet to be determined, but all communication in BlindEyes is SSL protected.
