Bnrt offers a client-server software solution for efficient rendering of Blender animations, divided into two programs. The client and server work together to distribute the workload and accelerate the rendering process.
I recently had the opportunity to try out bnrt, a software program that consists of both a client and a server. The main function of the program is to aid in the rendering of frames in animations across a network using multiple computers, all of which have Blender, a popular open-source 3D modeler and renderer, installed.
One thing I really appreciated about bnrt is that it can be used on a variety of different operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and any other environment that supports Blender and Java. I've only used it on Linux and Windows so far, but adding more OSs is a simple process as long as the necessary requirements are met.
Using bnrt requires starting a server on each computer being used for rendering, which can be done by running the server shellscript or batch file or by typing "java -jar bnrtServer.jar" at the command line. Once the server is up and running, the client can be launched to begin the rendering process.
Those using bnrt should note that it is still in the alpha phase, but I did successfully use it on my own network with up to 5 machines (a mix of Windows and Linux operating systems), and it worked quite well for me. If you do run into any issues, I am happy to try and assist you as much as possible. All in all, I would definitely recommend giving bnrt a try if you are in need of an efficient program to aid in the rendering of animation frames over a network.
