CANpie

I recently had the opportunity to review the CANpie project, which focuses on providing a standard API for easy and efficient access to the CAN bus. As a software developer, I found that the API provided a wide range of functionality for the ISO/OSI Layer-2 (Data Link Layer), making it incredibly useful for creating Higher Layer Protocols. In fact, I found that the CANpie driver served as the perfect base for creating protocols like CANopen, DeviceNet, J1939, and more.

One of the key benefits of the CANpie project is its hardware and operating system independence. Whenever possible, CANpie was designed to be completely hardware-independent, making it easy for developers to use across a wide range of different hardware configurations.
