Clamor is an ear training software designed to improve musical ability.
If you're looking to improve your musical ear training capabilities, Clamor might be just the software you need. This platform-independent software currently offers exercises that help you improve your ability to hear intervals, chords and notes relative to the tonic or the root of a chord.
As of the time of this review, the software is compatible with Linux and FreeBSD systems. It's written to be platform-independent, so it might be possible to port to other systems, although the developer hasn't tried.
Clamor is still in its early pre-release phase, so expect some hitches and glitches along the way. Before getting started with the software, make sure to install "sox", "Audio::Data", "Audio::Play" and "Clone" Perl modules.
If you use FreeBSD, it should be smooth sailing, with the necessary ports - "audio/p5-Audio" and "devel/p5-Clone" - readily available. Things aren't so easy on Debian, though, as the Audio module isn't available through Debian's package system. While you could try getting it directly from CPAN, there have been reports of crashes.
