Clubmask is a job and resource management software that helps manage tasks and resources more efficiently.
Clubmask is a powerful job and resource management software that effectively integrates Bproc global process space system, the System Installation Suite (SIS) for installing Linux clusters, Maui HPC Scheduler, and Supermon resource managers. With its modified version of the Supermon resource monitoring software, Clubmask provides an efficient way of collecting resources information from cluster notes.
The software also offers built-in support for a supermon2ganglia translator that enables standard Ganglia web backend to access Supermon and obtain XML data for display on the Ganglia web interface. Additionally, Clubmask is designed to allow Bproc-based clusters to access the full power and configuration of the Maui HPC Scheduler.
Clubmask effectively delivers job submission data and cluster resources information to the Maui scheduler, which then issues job control commands back to Clubmask. The software then starts or stops job scripts using the Bproc environment.
Clubmask has been tested on around 10 clusters ranging from 8 to 128 nodes, and supported up to 5000 jobs. To use Clubmask, users will need Ganglia, Supermon, Python 2.2, ZODB Python Package, and IndexedCatalog Python Package.
Recent updates in Clubmask include adding support for choosing resource manager subsystems at runtime through the clubmask.conf file. Currently, the available options for the subsystems are ganglia and supermon. Although support for Ganglia3 is expected to be added soon, Ganglia is the preferred choice as it is much more stable. Additionally, users can now turn on compiling of the Supermon Python module by adding --with-supermon to the setup.py file.
