ComStats

ComStats is a software that allows users to track their usage of three different email and chat clients: Apple's Mail.app, iChat and Adium AIM clients, and the open-source Fire IM client. All of these applications store copies of user communications on their hard drives, which ComStats reads and utilizes the JFreeChart graphing utility to produce visualized data.

With ComStats, users are able to chart data such as the number of emails and chats they have, the size of emails and the duration of chats they engage in, as well as the amount of emoticons and links they use in their conversations. This information can be broken down over arbitrary periods of time, whether that be days, months or even years.

In terms of updates, the software has been recently improved with the rewriting of certain parsing routines. However, there have been numerous problems reported, which is why the latest update has been downgraded back to beta.

Overall, ComStats offers users an easy and organized way to track their email and chat usage, allowing them to better understand their communication habits and trends.
