Curl&Copy is an iMovie plugin that provides users with a smooth transition effect when switching between two scenes.
I recently tried out two plug-ins for iMovie, Page Curl and Copy Machine. Both add some interesting visual effects to your video projects.
Page Curl can be used to transition from one clip to another. It starts at any corner of the screen and curling the frame like turning a page. As it curls, a dim version of the outgoing shot is displayed on the back of the page. This effect gives the transition a unique and artistic look.
Copy Machine, on the other hand, mimics the process of copying a document. It displays a brightly-lit bar at the top of the screen, just like what you see on a copy machine. The bar moves across the screen, showing the new scene and hiding the old as it goes. This effect adds a sense of motion to your transitions and can be used in a variety of creative ways.
Both plug-ins have some requirements and limitations. They're compatible with Mac OS X Tiger and require iMovie 4.0.1 or later. However, keep in mind that these plug-ins are only demo versions. While they work, they will leave a watermark on the image. So if you like what you see, you'll need to upgrade to the full version to use them without limitations.
