Developed by Michalis Giannakidis
The cvsxxdiff package is a helpful tool for managing files in a CVS repository. It includes two utilities, namely cvsnup and cvsxxdiff. Using cvsxxdiff, one can view the status and differences between files in the local working directory and the CVS repository or between two revisions on the repository. This utility has convenient options to review revisions of a file as it was in versions ago and the CVS log accompanying that revision. When invoked in conflict resolve mode, it works as a graphical tool for resolving conflicts.

On the other hand, cvsnup is a utility that inquires the status of local files with those in a CVS repository. It reports any not updated, modified or missing files in various convenient ways. Also, it creates changelogs for any changes that have not yet been merged.

The included functionality can be accessed through convenient options, allowing an easy overview of changesets and the project's evolution. Cvsxxdiff utilities work out of the box and have been tested on Unix, Linux systems, and on Windows under CYGWIN.

Key features of "cvsxxdiff" include displaying all changes between the local working directory and the remote source repository, displaying changes among selected file revisions, selecting files for comparison, displaying commit logs accompanying the files' revisions being reviewed, assisting in removal of conflicts, and reporting on the status of the local repository. It also has colorful and easy-to-read output, and one file to get the job done with minimal dependencies to other packages.

On the other hand, key features of cvsnup include displaying the status of all files not in sync with the trunk, providing options to show only unupdated files of a specific status, generating a changelog for the unupdated files, and one file to get the job done with minimal dependencies to other packages.

This tool is helpful for various scenarios, such as tracking bugs in code, going back to previous revisions, and comparing previous with the 2nd previous revision. One can easily see all the local changes made, and generate changelogs for any changes that have not yet been merged.

The requirements for using this tool include xxdiff version 3 and newer, and Python version 2.3 and newer. In the latest version, reviewing of patch sets is significantly improved, and the formatting of the generated output has been polished. Man pages for all of the utilities included have been added.
