Dash Clipping

Dash Clipping is a unique widget tool that allows you to transform any part of any web page into a Dashboard widget in just a few clicks. This tool bears some resemblance to the upcoming web clipping feature of Leopard, and it took me 24 hours to develop this tool. By carefully examining the video on that page, one can easily note that Apple is only loading the entire web page but displaying only a portion of it. There's nothing particularly innovative about the way they're doing things, and my version is no exception to that. However, I had to use Cocoa to develop part of it, and it still works well (although I did cut corners to complete it within a single day). I created the icon and background using AppleWorks in only two minutes.

Here are a few tips to get started with Dash Clipping:

- If you're having trouble moving past the URL field, it could be that you haven't entered a complete URL that begins with http://.
- It might take a few seconds for the page to load.
- To change the position of the top left corner, drag within the browser area while in resize mode.
- If you want to monitor several sites, drag another one from the Dashboard bar.
