Dbdeploy is a powerful Database Change Management tool that enables developers and DBAs to modify their databases with ease. This project facilitates controlled, simplified, flexible and frequent changes to the database. The most common issue in database development is changing an existing database while preserving its content. In development environments, it's okay to erase the database and recreate it from scratch as frequently as the code changes. However, controlled environments like QA, UAT, and production do not allow for this approach.

Drawing from our vast experience, version-controlled SQL delta scripts are the easiest way to change the database. We've observed that it's beneficial to use the same scripts in development environments as in QA, UAT, and Production. The task of managing and utilizing these deltas could become excessive - this is where dbdeploy comes in handy. The project aims to solve this issue.

The tool functions by comparing the SQL delta scripts on your filesystem and generating SQL scripts without applying them directly. Administrative tasks are handled within an ant build file. Dbdeploy supports the following DBMS: Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, and Hypersonic SQL.
