Diald-top is a user-friendly software that provides a 'top'-like view of all packets and their time to live for use with diald. This project is in need of a new lead developer as the original author no longer uses diald.
The concept behind diald-top is straightforward. It was created out of a need for a more user-friendly interface than the monitor pipe on an extra VC. The interface in top served as inspiration, and the designers of diald made it easy to implement. The use of ncurses for the interface made it possible to run on any type of terminal with correct terminfo entries.
In version 0.0.1.1, a limited command structure was added to diald-top. Users can now send diald commands to force/unforce, block/unblock, bring the link up/down, and quit diald from within the program, making it more useful. The program also reports the status of the link.
In version 2.0, diald-top gained the capability to run remotely, communicating to a custom server that farms the contents of the monitor FIFO out to the remotely running clients. The communication is done using TCP/IP on port 1313 on the server, and the user's identity is verified using identd before being looked up in a configuration file.
