DirectConnect by Digidesign is a powerful host-based audio streaming technology that is creating new and exciting creative possibilities for Pro Tools users. This TDM/RTAS Plug-In allows audio data from software synthesizers or samplers to be easily integrated into Pro Tools' virtual mixer. At present, it is available for Mac OS-based Pro Tools|24 MIX and Pro Tools|24 MIXplus systems, with RTAS and Windows compatibility coming soon.
Using DirectConnect, artists can seamlessly bring in sounds and compositions from supported third-party applications into Pro Tools for additional mixing and processing. Currently, it is supported by Koblo's Studio9000, with support for other applications coming soon. Up to 32 discrete channels from the host application will appear as 32 discrete inputs in Pro Tools, and setup is simple without the need for additional hardware.
