DotsAndBoxes is a Java applet that allows players to enjoy the popular board game, Dots and Boxes, also known as Lines and Boxes, on their computers.
DotsAndBoxes is a Java 1.1 AWT (GUI) applet that allows you to enjoy the pencil-and-paper game known as "Dots and Boxes," or "Lines and Boxes." It offers a graphical representation of a rectangular grid, complete with dots at the corners of each square, where players will take turns drawing lines that surround each square- top, left, right, and bottom.
When a player clicks on the fourth line and completes a square, they get to keep that square. The player with the most squares at the end of the game wins. This applet comes packaged as an archive, that you can quickly unpack and run in your Terminal.
To use it, navigate to the directory containing unpacked files and initiate the app using the following run command: "java DotsAndBoxes2" (without the quotes).
