dprofpp_grapher

The dprofpp_grapher project is a handy tool that provides users with the ability to read the output file of the Perl profiler and generate a context-insensitive call graph that highlights the subroutines that consume the majority of the time. This software is simple to use, as all one needs to do is issue the following command: dprofpp_grapher [options]. Once this is done, the tool generates an intuitive graphic representation of the Perl profile data.

Options include the ability to set the output format using the "--format,-f" flag, which can refer to a list available in the GraphViz manpage. Additionally, users can also mark an input file using the "--in,-i" flag (if not specified, tmon.out is read by default), or choose to output the software using the "--out,-o" flag (output to standard output if not specified).

There are several other options available to users, including "--threshold,-t," which displays only subroutines with a cumulative time percentage equal to or greater than the specified threshold. The "--verbose,-v" flag increases verbosity while using the software, and "--version,-V" prints version information.

Installation is quick and easy. Simply run "perl Makefile.PL", then execute "make," and finally, "make install" on the distribution directory. One can then start using the tool right away.
