DROID identifies digital records.
DROID, short for Digital Record Object Identification, is a powerful tool developed by The National Archives to meet the needs of digital preservationists. DROID uses both internal and external signatures to identify and report on specific file format versions. These signatures are stored in an XML signature file that is generated from the technical registry of PRONOM.
