ezUserManager

I recently had the opportunity to use ezUserManager, a script designed to simplify the administration of .htpasswd files or the use of Web-based login. This software has several features that stood out to me, including a signup form, forgotten password form, and admin form that can modify and delete users. Additionally, ezUserManager offers email activation or admin approval, and supports both encrypted and plain text passwords.

One of the standout features of ezUserManger was the easy customizable sign-up form. Users can also update their info and have access to an admin-panel with web-based installation/configuration. It also provides the option to either use .htaccess and let ezUserManger update the username/password file or use a web-based login-form. There is also an opportunity to require email-activation or admin-approval, and the software is easy to translate into other languages.

Another advantage of this software is that it is free for personal use, while a commercial license is available for a low price. Additionally, the software is easy to install and offers a list of translations, currently 16 different languages.

The latest release offers several new features. It includes an automated feature to check for updates, an option to permit or deny multiple users from having the same email address, the ability to enable or disable the use of .htpasswd/.htaccess, and the option to add an anti-spam (visual confirmation) image at registration time. Furthermore, a confirmation question is now displayed when deleting users in the admin panel.

Overall, I found ezUserManger to be an effective and user-friendly solution for managing .htpasswd files or utilizing a Web-based login. I appreciated the software's ease of use and its robust feature set, including the ability to customize the sign-up form and administer user accounts.
