FeResPost is a ruby extension that is ideal for developing small programs and automating the post-processing of structural analysis finite element results. It offers access to five classes and two modules that enable the manipulation of FE entities and results.

One of the classes, the DataBase class, is a generic class that is used to store a FE model and other entities. It cannot be instantiated. Two classes inherit the DataBase class: the NastranDb class used for the manipulation of Nastran models and results, and the SamcefDb class used for the manipulation of Samcef models and results.

Other classes provided by FeResPost include the Result class that allows the manipulation of results and their transformation, the ResKeyList class that is useful for manipulating result entities, the Group class that enables the definition of groups and the extraction of results on small parts of a structure, and the CoordSys class that is used for the manipulation of coordinate systems (still in development).

The Post module provides access to additional functions, while the ClaDb class is used to store composite entities, the ClaMat class is used to manipulate materials, the ClaLam class is used to store laminates and perform CLA calculations, and the ClaLoad class is used to manipulate loadings applied to laminates. The CLA classes are interfaced with the rest of FeResPost and allow for efficient post-processing of composite finite element results.

FeResPost allows for the simultaneous manipulation of several models by defining several NastranDb and SamcefDb objects, and different Nastran and Samcef models can be manipulated simultaneously. The program is primarily designed to download and manipulate result entities to produce margins of safety.

Users can modify the reference coordinate system, calculate total force and moment corresponding to a distribution of loads, derive criteria like Von Mises for a stress tensor, find the norm of a vector, perform operations that combine several results (sum, difference, product, merging of results), and derive new results (e.g., laminated results).

In conclusion, FeResPost is a valuable tool for automating the post-processing of structural analysis finite element results and provides a range of useful functions and classes to manipulate and analyze data efficiently.
