Fetch Text URL

Fetch Text URL is an extension for Firefox that allows users to open plain text URLs directly from the context menu. The extension has recently been updated to support Firefox 3 RC. Users can customize the context menu by choosing specific items that they want to be present in Firefox by selecting Tools Extensions, then Fetch Text URL, and clicking options.

One of the major features of Fetch Text URL is that it allows users to highlight a text URL and open it from the context menu using the right-click option. It also supports opening links in a new tab, current tab or a new window. Users can choose to display icons to help identify the context menu items, or opt to turn them off.

Additionally, Fetch Text URL recognizes and handles various protocols such as http, https, and ftp. Users have the option to customize which items to display in the context menu and how they are displayed through extension options or about:config. It also automatically fixes malformed URL protocols, such as converting "h**p://blah.com" to http and removes invalid characters and excess whitespace from the front and end of URLs.

Fetch Text URL requires Firefox 1.0 or later and can be a valuable addition for users who want to streamline their workflow while browsing the internet.
