File Search

I recently had the opportunity to review the File Search software, specifically the TFileSearch component. This file and folder search component is an excellent tool that allows you to easily find any file or folder on your disk. Setting up the search is simple - just specify the required attributes, file and folder masks (with support for wildcards), choose the root folder, and call the Search method.

One of the standout features of File Search is its ability to refine or interrupt the search process on-the-fly using the OnFound and OnFolderSkip events. The OnFinished event is also incredibly useful, as it informs you when the search process has stopped. Additionally, each found file or folder is passed to any relevant event as a TFileInfo record, which is much easier to navigate than complex WinAPI's FINDDATA structure.

I found the demo project included with the File Search suite to be a great resource as well. It effectively demonstrates the main features of TFileSearch component and helps users get started using the software with ease.

Overall, I would highly recommend File Search - either as a standalone tool or as part of the Delphi Toys component pack. Its flexibility, simplicity, and powerful features make it an indispensable addition to any developer's toolkit.
