Firelight

Filelight is a disk usage visualization software that creates an interactive map using concentric segmented-rings. The software is akin to a pie-chart, but the segments nest to provide a comprehensive overview of which directories and files on your computer are taking up the most space. This feature allows you to pinpoint the specific directories and files that are culprits behind large disk usage.

Additionally, Filelight offers remote filesystem functionality. Philesight, a free and open-source utility, offers a map similar to Filelight that you can pre-render at set times during the week and manipulate remotely in a web browser. FIlelight also allows browsing of remote servers using the fish:// or ftp:// KIO slave but, for a system administrator, Philesight is more useful.

If you want to install Filelight from source, you can copy and paste the following commands into a terminal: cd ~ wget tar xjf filelight-1.0.tar.bz2 cd filelight-1.0 ./configure --disable-debug && make su -c 'make install'. Overall, Filelight offers an easy and effective way to manage disk usage on your computer with its interactive, segmented-ring map.
