FlashAmp creates audio data in amplitude, spectrum, and cue point forms. These can be used to accurately synchronize animations to even streaming audio, animate sound waveforms, animate VU meters, use audio cue points in Flash, create graphical eq type displays with FlashAmp Pro, and even create frequency-based music visualizations with FlashAmp Pro. Imagination is the only limiting factor in this software.
The key features that FlashAmp has to offer include a completely revised user interface that concentrates all of the major settings in a single window, which makes it effortless to view all of the controls and settings. A new feature that has been added is the Preview window that includes an animated 'eq' display for spectrum data and waveform displays for amplitude data. This feature is only available in FlashAmp Pro. Additionally, there is simultaneous processing of amplitude and spectrum data available in FlashAmp Pro only. Batch processing has also been updated, and it can now handle sub-folders of sound files in FlashAmp Standard and Pro versions. The software also includes variable control of the amplitude Smoothing setting, custom spectrum bandwidth settings, and options for the overall frequency range used in spectrum analysis. Sound files that have a 48kHz sample rate are supported, as are MP3 files using Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and Joint-Stereo encoding.
To use this application, users will need a Power Macintosh G4 running OS 10.2.6 and at least 512 MB of RAM, in addition to Flash 8, Flash MX2004 Professional and MX2004, Flash MX, or Flash 5 (which requires reformatting of arrays to Flash 5 lists).
