FlowDesigner

FlowDesigner is a data flow oriented development environment that is available for free and is covered under the GPL/LGPL license. This software is a great option for building complex applications that require the use of small, reusable building blocks. FlowDesigner has some similarities to Simulink and LabView, but it is not a clone of either. With a RAD GUI and a visual debugger, FlowDesigner is perfect for the rapid prototyping of applications, but can also be used for real-time applications like audio effects processing.

The software is written in C++ and features a plugin mechanism that makes adding plugins/toolboxes an easy process. The software also features signal processing, audio processing (DSP), vector quantization, neural networks, fuzzy logic, real-time audio effect processing (pre-alpha), linear algebra using LAPACK (pre-alpha), and robotics. In order to use FlowDesigner, users will need standard GNOME-2 dependencies and FFTW.

This latest version of FlowDesigner includes a new Qt GUI that is currently under construction. It is also compatible with 64-bit processors and has updated GNOME GUI. The software is slowly migrating to a CMake-based build system and is available for both Win32 and OS X (binaries are available). Other new features include an FD namespace and the ability to use Octave scripts with specific Octave Nodes.
