Folding@home

Folding@Home is a distributed computing project that focuses on studying protein folding, misfolding, and aggregation, along with related diseases. By using innovative computational methods and large-scale distributed computing, this project can simulate folding timescales that are thousands to millions of times longer than what was previously achieved. This breakthrough allows for the simulation of folding for the first time, and the project can now take a directed approach to examine folding-related diseases.

The Pande group leads this project, working on theory and simulations of how nanoscale synthetic polymers, proteins, and RNA fold. They have not only created the ensemble dynamics method and its application to protein folding, but also developed the server code and client for the Folding@home project.
