Fractanoid

Fractanoid project is a highly efficient software experiment in multithreaded programming. Its key feature is the ability to split loads across multiple cores on a computer, giving it an edge when it comes to image processing. The program works by dividing the image area into 200-200 pixel blocks, each of which is stored in a list. This, in turn, is constantly monitored by a series of threads in a threadpool.

The image blocks are processed and the results are then displayed on the screen. Fractanoid also has full panning support, ensuring that new blocks are continuously calculated as they appear on the screen. Furthermore, zooming in and out of the image clears its display, and recalculation occurs based on the new level of zoom.

To operate Fractanoid, one simply needs to have Qt 4.x installed on their system. This version has various new features, including zoom by selection and automatic detection of the number of CPUs available. It also provides users with smoother zooming with the mouse wheel, rectifying past issues with the process. Additionally, this release addresses various redraw problems, ensuring that users can enjoy a seamless experience.
