Fritz!Control

The Fritz!Control project is an excellent monitoring tool for FRITZ!Box devices that utilize the /proc filesystem under /proc/avalanche to export signal data. Unlike the web interface's JavaScript code, this tool displays the data much better, providing a history of the carrier's high point since you started monitoring. Moreover, it colors the bars according to the delta to the maximum value, making it easy to spot unstable carriers. The software also includes a cursor function to view the precise value of any carrier by placing your mouse over it.

For Windows users, a binary is available, while Linux users must compile the tool themselves. Before using the software, you must first install the firmware mod on your FRITZ!Box using the files in the firmware directory. There are two options available: enable-stats-and-telnet.img, which enables the stats server and a telnet server on ports 2323 and 23, respectively (this is unauthenticated), and enable-stats.img, which enables the stats server only. Be aware that updating your device using the FRITZ!Box web interface may void your warranty, so proceed with caution.

Once you have set up the firmware mod, open the application and navigate to "File | Set target" to input the hostname/ip of your device and the port of the telnet server providing the stats. For instance, fritz.box:2323. If everything was installed correctly, you should now see signal data graphs. If not, report the issue in the forum.

You can also adjust the display's update speed by going to "Device | Update speed" and selecting one of the following options: High (update every 500 milliseconds), Normal (update every 2 seconds), Low (update every 4 seconds), and Paused (no updates are displayed). Overall, Fritz!Control is an excellent software for monitoring FRITZ!Box devices and provides valuable insights into the signal's stability.
