Futurama 1

As a software reviewer, I have to say that if there was any television show that was canceled before it's time, it would undoubtedly be Fox's Futurama. The series, which was created by the legendary Matt Groening, the maker of The Simpsons, was set in the distant future and was designed to be smarter and geekier than its predecessor, The Simpson's. However, Fox never quite "got" the series, consistently pre-empted the show with Football, moved its time slot all over the place, and never really promoted it properly. This resulted in many fans, including myself, missing quite a few episodes.

But thanks to the recent release of Futurama Vol.1 on DVD, I can now own the entire run. This set contains icons of the entire Planet Express crew including Fry, Leela, Professor Farnsworth, and all the rest. And before you ask, there will be more volumes with such favorites as Zap Brannigan, Kiff, Morvo, and many, many others.

As a software enthusiast, I can safely say that the possibilities are endless, so don't put that quarter in the suicide booth just yet. I really believe that this set will be the start of something amazing, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this series. So go ahead and enjoy it!
