GDAM is a digital DJ mixing software package that boasts powerful, professional-quality music mixing and remixing capabilities, designed to cater to live performance needs. The software was conceptualized on a beautiful summer morning back in 1998, and since then, the development team has been working tirelessly to make it as cutting-edge as possible. In the four years since the initial release, many goals have been achieved, but development continues.

The GDAM software package has a client-server architecture that is centered around glib. It can stream and mix any number of MP3 files, insert and remove dynamic filters, and can support multiple sound devices. Moreover, it comes with plugin support, enabling additional functionality. GDAM also offers queueing features, allowing albums to play without any gaps between songs, regardless of output buffer size. The software boasts a turntable-style interface, along with assisted beat matching, a waveform viewer / beat calculator, a sequencer, and the ability to record from any stream starting point to disk or another process. With its flexible command-line interface, users can customize the software to their liking.

GDAM offers comprehensive support for LADSPA plugins and can use them to create plugins graphically. Furthermore, it comes with hardware input support, including MIDI, and offers online help for all its functionalities.

The latest release of GDAM includes updates such as support for ogg and flac files, along with support for the mad MP3 decoder. The software now allows wav files to be seekable and offers support for wav/aiff/ogg/flac in turntables, beat calculations, and more. Decoders can now be defined in the server configuration file, and a range of bugs have been fixed, including a bug that caused clicking in dynamic filters. Memory leaks have also been taken care of, and synchronization has been improved in resample and bender filters. The software no longer requires netcat for connecting to an encoding server and offers a buffer viewport for waveform display.

The GDAM software package now comes with new filters, including stall, djrewind, morph, and beat-aware respeed. Moreover, it boasts six compact turntables and beginnings of a mix skin that allows sequencing of any source. With the ALAS 0.9 support, users experience improved audio quality.

Overall, GDAM is a powerful and versatile digital DJ mixing software package capable of meeting the needs of professional performers effortlessly.
