These boolean operations automatically use GTS (the GNU Triangulated Surface Library) to ensure the generation of the best grid possible.
Furthermore, the "boolean operations" between solids use GTS which makes the entire process automatic, and the quad/octree structure of the discretisation can, in turn, refine solid boundaries that have been cut accordingly.
