GETD

Getd is a Linux Gtk2 app designed for easy management of USB storage disks. With its ability to automatically mount to the proper place and perform requested operations, such as executing a command script or synchronizing files between a disk and an HDD, Getd offers a user-friendly approach to USB management. Additionally, Getd supports encrypted disks, making it a secure option for users who prioritize data protection.

Getd relies on the kernel and regular external apps and does not interfere with the device or hardware. To run Getd, users must ensure they have the following software requirements: Gtk2 >= 2.0, Orbit2 >= 0.5.3, Xml2 >= 2.0, Gconf2 >= 2.0, glibc >= 2.3.2, util-linux >=2.11r (patched for crypto support), dosfstools >= 2.10 (vfat support), and 2efsprogs >=1.29 (ext2/ext3 support).

In the most recent release, Getd has added several valuable features, including fsck check before mounting (ext2/ext3), the ability to detect when a device is already mounted on startup, and some support for USB HDD. Additionally, Getd has introduced a new variable, GETD_MAIN_DEV, for script execution, a refresh button for mounting media without unplugging devices (HDD), and a scrollbar for script text window. The new version also includes a lock file to prevent multiple instances and checks if all external apps are installed on startup.

Finally, Getd has fixed several bugs, such as executing the umount script twice and added an admin page for force checking/repairing for ext2/ext3 and vfat. All these features make Getd a reliable and efficient option for Linux users seeking an easy-to-use program for managing USB storage disks.
