I recently used LANguard Security Event Log Monitor and I must say I was impressed with its capabilities. This software serves as a network wide event log monitor that easily retrieves logs from all of my NT/2000 servers and workstations. What sets LANguard S.E.L.M. apart from other intrusion detection products is its ability to immediately alert administrators of possible intrusions for immediate host based intrusion detection.
The software's event viewer also allows for the creation of network wide reports, which was extremely helpful in identifying machines that were being targeted by hackers. Additionally, the program was able to pinpoint local users who were attempting to hack internal company information, which allowed me to take action to prevent any damage from being done.
Another impressive feature of LANguard S.E.L.M. is that it analyses the system event logs instead of sniffing network traffic, which is what traditional IDS products do. This means that LANguard S.E.L.M. is not impaired by switches, IP traffic encryption or high speed data transfer. Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to ensure the security of their network.
