GIMP cursor brushes

The GIMP cursor brushes project is an impressive set of (50) brushes which can be utilized in the popular image editor, GIMP. As someone who prefers GIMP for my image editing needs, I find that some of the basic features, such as cursors, are often lacking. Most of the available features seem to be fancy with little practical use. However, the cursor brushes project is a great contribution to the software by providing users with cursor brushes made from assorted cursors that can be easily used.

The developer has put in a lot of effort into creating these brushes, taking up his entire weekend for this project. Although some of the brushes consist of "prior art," there has still been a lot of editing involved. The cursor mouse, for example, was created from scratch. These brushes can be used for anything, and if you decide to redistribute them, don't forget to include the file.

If you would like to stay up-to-date with new versions of the project, the brushes can be found at gimphelp.org. They are also available in png format at wpclipart.com, which is a Public Domain clipart site.

To use the brushes, all you need is GIMP. Simply stick them in the GIMP brushes folder and either refresh the brushes or restart GIMP entirely. On a Slackware machine, the system-wide folder for the GIMP brushes can typically be found at /usr/share/gimp/2.0/brushes. In addition to this, there is also a local brushes folder that you should have at ~/.gimp-2.x/brushes.

Overall, the GIMP cursor brushes project is highly recommended for anyone looking to spruce up their images using GIMP. The assortment of cursors provided in the project cover a wide variety of use cases, making them an excellent addition to anyone's brush collection.
