Gnome-Dial

Gnome-Dial is a user-friendly PPP dialer designed for GNOME 2. The main objective of this project is to provide GNOME 2 users with a comprehensive and easy-to-use interface for the ppp package, thus simplifying dialup connections. While there are numerous dialer tools available, Gnome-PPP for instance, these often require additional programs (such as WvDial) for connections or may not be seamlessly integrated with the GNOME interface, which is where Gnome-Dial comes in.

Gnome-Dial can be regarded as a frontend for PPP, but its primary focus is not to replace the ppp package, as it intends to include new features and its configuration files that represent modems and connections. The package promises to be clean, fast, and fully integrated with the GNOME interface.

This next step in its development will be a configuration generator. It is important to note that Gnome-Dial is a pre-alpha version and not yet suitable for normal desktop user.

The project is still in its early stages of development, but with its focus on ease of use and seamless integrations with the GNOME interface, it has the potential to become one of the popular dialers for GNOME 2 users. Its requirement is only pppd 2.4.2 version, making it very accessible.
