If you're a gamer, you know how important it is to stay connected with others who share your interest. That's why GOIM is such a great tool. It's a full-featured jabber/XMPP client designed specifically with gamers in mind. With GOIM, you can do more than just chat with your friends; you can also broadcast a notification when you join a server and see which games others are playing, making it easy to join them with just one click on the game icon beside their name.

GOIM uses the Eclipse Rich Client platform as its GUI and SMACK as its jabber library. Plus, you can even use GOIM inside the Eclipse IDE, which is great for developers who are working on gaming projects.

It's important to note that GOIM is still in an early beta stage, so there may be bugs and missing features. But even with its current limitations, GOIM still offers a range of key features that are sure to appeal to gamers.

For starters, GOIM allows you to send information about which game is being played on which server. This is done by sending a presence with extended information, which means that even people using different clients (or even different messaging services, like ICQ or MSN) will be able to see what/where you are playing. And if you're not sure which games are currently supported by GOIM, you'll be happy to know that Unreal Tournament 2004, Live for Speed, Americas Army, and TeamSpeak 2 (which, while not a game, works the same way) are all currently supported.

In addition to basic messaging and presence features, GOIM also allows you to discover and subscribe to Jabber transports, which lets you communicate with users of other messaging services.

So what's new in the latest release of GOIM? For starters, there are two new plugins: the InGame Messenger for DirectX 8 games and the GameServer Browser, which allows you to query HLSW server lists. There are also many other fixes and enhancements, including usability improvements for Linux and macOS, added support for Jabber File Transfer, and the ability to customize the commands used to launch a game. Plus, a bug that caused autojoining MUC rooms on connecting has been fixed.

Overall, if you're a gamer who wants to stay connected with others who share your passion, GOIM is definitely worth checking out. With its range of features, convenient interface, and support for multiple games and messaging services, GOIM is a great tool for anyone who loves gaming.
