GQoob is a media player that offers a fair amount of configurability. While the API for the xine library had changed beyond xine-libs 0.9.13, the GQoob software had not updated accordingly, and there has been no real interest to maintain it any further.
Despite these difficulties, GQoob v.0.3.0 currently has a range of features which would be helpful for anyone looking for a media player. The video issues associated with the release are, for the most part, due to pre-existing bugs in the xine-libs system.
GQoob's design is heavily influenced by GQmpeg, although there have been some necessary modifications in order to utilize the GTK 2 interface more effectively. Additionally, because of its use of the XINE library, GQoob is equipped to handle video playback. This video overlay is made possible by the gtk xine interface, borrowed directly from the Totem media player.
