Greensocs

The Greensocs project is a development kit that aims to make it easier for designers to produce systems on a chip using SystemC, a C derivative, instead of Verilog or VHDL. The project's mission is to promote the use of SystemC among designers by engineering SystemC infrastructure that complements OSCI and commercial EDA providers' capabilities while promoting academic research. The ultimate aim is to extend the use and applicability of SystemC by coordinating and promoting collaboratively developed models, methods, and utilities that prioritize designers' needs.

This software offers several benefits, including lowering infrastructure development, training, and adoption costs and enabling higher degrees of IP reuse and interchange. Additionally, EDA companies can build tools in support of the standards.

GreenSocs runs a SourceForge project under the same name, which aims to develop SystemC infrastructure, basic IP, patches, and add-on library code for eventual standardization. The project is made up of several contributions and subprojects.

To facilitate the use of SystemC and the infrastructure, patches, and extensions that GreenSocs develops, pre-built binary packages are available from the downloads area. These packages include all the stable GreenSocs patches and basic building blocks, making it easy for designers to get started with the SystemC-based development kit.
