Harvest: Massive Encounter is a real-time strategy game that has won numerous awards, available for both Mac OS X and Windows. Gamers play the role of a base commander leading their space colony far away from home, facing the challenge of expanding and defending it using five unique building types. These include power plants, mineral harvesters, and defense towers.

To survive, players must fend off endless hordes of evil aliens, using the energy produced by power plants to power up defenses such as Laser Towers, Missile Turrets, and over-charged bombs. But, energy flow is not automatic, as it moves from the power plants to other locations by jumping between energy links that the player places. Moreover, the game requires the player to frequently improve their building designs and deploy numerous defenses to keep the aliens at bay.

Gamers must harvest minerals fields throughout the game, earn credits - which they need to build buildings - and create new energy links to satisfy the energy demands of the colony's buildings. The gameplay offers a vast range of potential strategies, choices, and innovative designs. The game is all about designing and creating a unique base, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also efficient at defending against the enemy onslaught.

Players can form player groups that battle against other groups or simply try to beat their own records on each of the game's planets.
