Harv's Hamshack Hack is a remastered version of the KNOPPIX distribution designed specifically for Amateur Radio Operators (Hams). The CD included with the package contains a complete operating system and sufficient software to accomplish daily tasks such as web browsing, email, and letter writing. Additionally, the package includes a vast library of software applications designed specifically for the Amateur Radio hobby.
The Hamshack Hack is a 'Live CD' system, which means that there is no need to install the system to your hard drive. Instead, the entire package runs off the CD by creating a "ram disk" in your machine's memory. Once you reboot your machine, the LINUX system disappears, and you will return to the system previously installed on your hard drive.
To get started with downloading and using Hamshack Hack, you need to download the "hamshack.iso" image file and burn it to a CD using your favorite CD burner. Remember to select the "Burn CD Image" option to avoid ending up with just another copy of the .iso file.
